TIPES OF HARDWARE

There are several types of hardware for sectional garage doors depending on the size and the mounting place of the door. The two main types are the hardware with Tension springs and the hardware with Torsion springs.

In the case of hardware with Tension springs, the springs are placed in the vertical L-profiles on both sides of the garage door. This hardware is more suitable for smaller, residential garage doors which have less space on the sides and above the door (max. opening size: 4000mm wide and 2470mm high).

In the case of hardware with Torsion springs, the springs are placed above the garage door. This demands more place above the door. This type of hardware is suitable for bigger sectional garage doors (for example: 5000mm wide and 4000mm high).

The hardware with torsion springs can be designed with high lifted part (HL), in full vertical position (FV) or in case of little space above the door in lowered position called low head room hardware (LHR).
